The Buckley Foundation is a non-profit organization, led by a Board of Directors comprising some of America's top business and civic leaders, and a distinguished Honorary Board that provides advisory support as needed.
To achieve its vision, the Foundation encourages public participation in contemporary debate issues and subjects for civil discourse, and in particular supports institutions that offer training in writing and public speaking. The Foundation provides scholarships to those who would clearly benefit from such training but are not able to afford it. The Foundation will continue to assist members of the United States military, clergy, educators, promising members of college debate teams, and even leaders of other non-profit institutions who would otherwise be unable to afford top notch, professional instruction.
As the founder, Reid Buckley, has written, a republican form of government requires "uncommon civility and a generous, yet disciplined, habit of mind in order to debate public issues and come to a wise and amiable reconciliation."
The Buckley Foundation for Communications intend to promote those crucial cognitive skills.
